About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our small, dynamic legal team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and strategic legal professional who excels in a fast-paced startup environment. As Senior Counsel, you will assist our General Counsel on all aspects of the legal function, collaborating with our go-to-market (GTM), product, engineering, and finance teams.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the GTM, Product, Customer Success, and Finance teams to provide legal support throughout the customer engagement process.
- Negotiate and draft customer contracts, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with applicable laws.
- Offer guidance on a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in the development of legal strategies to support company goals.
- Based on interest and expertise, take ownership of other aspects of the legal function, such as employment matters, intellectual property portfolio development, corporate compliance, legal operations, etc.
- Support the growth and development of the legal function within the organization.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in California.
- 6-10 years of relevant legal experience
- Experience in commercial counsel roles, which includes negotiating IP and data privacy agreements
- Proven ability to operate as a generalist within a small legal team.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience working collaboratively with sales and GTM teams.
Nice-to-Have:
- Technical background, such as an engineering degree or related field.
- Previous experience in a startup environment, with the ability to move quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Previous experience in a healthcare technology company or SAAS environment
