Senior Director Technical and Operational Accounting

Overview:

The Senior Director of Technical and Operational Accounting will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy of the company's financial statements by providing technical accounting expertise and guidance to the accounting team. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and has extensive experience in technical accounting principles and standards.

You will: 

  • Serve as the company's technical accounting subject matter expert, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, including GAAP, IFRS, and SEC regulations.
  • Review and analyze financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures to ensure they are accurate and complete.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures that are consistent with accounting standards and industry best practices.
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and assess the potential impact on the company's financial statements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and external auditors, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Lead  a team of approximately 4-6 professionals that promotes and leads a positive, high-performing, innovative and growth-oriented environment that consistently delivers reliable and ‘flawless on the fundamentals’ results.
  • Lead the development and delivery of technical accounting training programs to educate the accounting team and other stakeholders on accounting principles and standards.
  • Monitor accounting and financial reporting developments and provide updates and recommendations to senior management on their potential impact on the company.
  • Conduct technical accounting research and prepare technical memos to document accounting conclusions and support the company's accounting positions.
  • Manage the work of external consultants and service providers as needed.

 

You have:

  • Deep subject matter expertise in technical accounting, controllership practices and financial reporting
  • Prior public company controllership experience is required and is also seasoned in interacting with both external and internal auditors.
  • Track history of publishing consistent, high quality SEC reports, (Form 10-K, 10-Q, Proxies, 8-K’s, etc.) within deadlines that provide clear insights and conform with SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience building and maintaining a robust SOX control framework.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in senior accounting roles at public companies/public accounting and a minimum of BS in Accounting or equivalent experience; CPA required.
  • Strong executive presence in successfully managing c-level relationships, and working cross functionally with a willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in the context of documenting support for the accounting of complex transactions; excellent soft-skills and ability to motivate and influence all levels of management and possesses a strong business acumen and historical experience in being able to instill a results-driven/solutions-oriented culture.
  • Strong business acumen, agility at problem -solving, hands-on approach, strategic mindedness, vision, independent thinking, and an appreciation and passion for instilling continuous improvement..

Benefits: 

 

The salary range for this role will be between $195,000  to $220,000]. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, your location, and your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications. During the phone screening, the recruiter will provide the location-specific salary range for this role. The compensation package also includes the following benefits, which may be updated from time to time:
