Job Description:
Propulsion is one of the foundational technologies that determines the overall performance and reliability of the platform.  We seek an engine propulsion calibration engineer with broad experience in engine calibration, hardware testing, durability, reliability and product validation and verification (PV&V), to own the development and testing of our propulsion systems. 
What you'll do:
  • Lead engine test calibrationprojectsforsmall enginesforgasoline and heavy fuels (JP5 and JP8). 
  • Develop test process (test objective, setup, testing que management) for engine performance under various environmental/operating conditions. 
  • Own engine dyno testing, data acquisition system, engine instrumentation and sensors, engine assembly and enginesetup. 
  • Plan various engine hardware/component testing such as cylinder head, piston bowl shapes, fuel system and air system hardware such as e-booster/turbocharger.  
  • Collaborate with external suppliersfor air system components such as turbochargers and superchargers, fuel system, instrumentation, andcontrol system to support the development and testing of various propulsion technologies (2S, 4S and alternative engine architecture) 
  • Produce technical reports to capture and communicate the findings of the engine system testing. 
  • Collaborate with 1D engine modeling team on controls and calibration development. Contribute to model-based hardware development process. 
  • Review controls model and plan engine controls testing on Engine dyno and propellor test stand. 
  • Design and review engine CAD models for new hardware components. 
  • Act as point of contact fortestingactivities and collaborate with design, systems engineering and external testing/manufacturing partners. 
  • Use data and analysis to set acceptance criteria for production and engineering propulsion hardware testing. 

  • Required qualifications:
  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent  
  • 4-7 years of relevant experience in engine testing, calibration, and hardware development 
  • Advanced knowledge for internal combustion engines and fuel systems. 
  • Expert in engine hardware testing and engine dynamometer measurements. 
  • Demonstrated record of developing engine hardware calibration that has resulted in performance improvements. 
  • Advanced understanding of two strokes engines and calibration 
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • M.S. or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
  • Hardware testing in an industry environment focused
  • Demonstrated experience in small engine development and testing. 
  • Demonstrated experience in testing lean gasoline compression ignition (GCI) engines, gasoline SI engines, fuel system testing 
  • Demonstrated experience in using 1D engine modeling tools such as GT-Suite and GT/Simulink. 
  • Demonstrated experience in engine controls development and testing.

    Total compensation: Salary within range listed above + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)
    Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.

    Location guidelines-
    Onsite = 5 days/week in office
    Hybrid = Minimum 3 days/week in office
    Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs
