The Motion Capture Data Collection Engineer will work cross-functionally, driving initiatives to collect robot and human motion data to help optimize robot performance and train machine learning models. Part of this role will be setting up, running, and maintaining various motion capture systems, recruiting test subjects for data collection, and integrating the resulting data into our data platforms.

Responsibilities

Set up, run, and maintain motion capture systems.

Coordinate with engineers & technicians to collect motion data.

Run preliminary data collections (< 25 subjects), design and organize large scale data collections, and direct the work of others in performing those human subject studies.

Implement robust data collection processes in collaboration with the data platform team to ensure seamless data integration, storage, and retrieval processes.

Requirements

BS/MS in computer science, robotics, or a related technical field.

3+ years of experience in data collection, data management, or data quality assurance; preferably in robotics or related fields.

Proven expertise in setting up and running motion capture data collection processes.

Familiarity with database management, data preprocessing, and validation techniques.

Experience conducting user studies.

Strong abilities in attention to detail, communication, and collaboration.

Bonus - the attributes are great to have but not required by our candidates. Candidates who lack these should not be discouraged to apply

Experience with Python.

Familiarity with setting up and operating AV equipment.

Experience with bringing up and running commercially available sensors.

Familiarity with JIRA or similar task management tools.
