Senior Software Engineer – Defense and Intelligence Applications

C3 AI is looking for Senior Software Engineers for our Defense and Intelligence team. You will be part of a fast-moving organization with highly motivated engineers who tackle challenging and impactful problems. An ideal candidate possesses strategic and analytical aptitude, software development expertise, and excellent interpersonal skills. 

Recent examples of Defense and Intelligence projects include: intelligence analysis, aircraft predictive maintenance, and battlefield object recognition. These are impactful projects with high levels of internal and external visibility.

This role requires US Citizenship or US Permanent Residence. Active security clearance (Secret or higher) is preferred. 

Responsibilities: 

• Design, develop, and maintain performance and scalable applications.
• Build and improve tools for internal C3 teams to understand and analyze large-scale data.
• Work closely with and incorporate feedback from the Products and Engineering teams.
• Define and lead end-to-end development of applications.
• Mentor junior team members.

Qualifications: 

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields, MS preferred.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with JavaScript, Java, or other object-oriented programming language.
• Strong hands-on experience and understanding of object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, profiling, and optimization.
• Knowledge of distributed systems, test driven development, SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud providers, and performance optimization tools.
• Real passion for developing team-oriented solutions to complex engineering problems.

• Great verbal and written communication skills to collaborate multi-functionally and improve scalability.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Git or other version control software.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodology.
• Experience developing software for Department of Defense, Intelligence Communities, or similar organizations. 
• Experience leading engineering teams and projects.
• Hold an active security clearance.
