What’s the role all about?

As Cleo’s Analytics Engineering Manager, you will own the technical and strategic direction of Analytics Engineering at Cleo across all business units. That means defining the role of Analytics Engineering as the company and data complexity grows, setting technical excellence, and continuously pushing to evolve our data culture. To support our rapid trajectory towards 100M users, you will lead on ensuring our solutions are robust and scalable, allowing us to move at speed in making data-driven decisions.

Moreover, you’ll work with leaders across Data, Engineering, and Product to maximise the impact of Analytic Engineering. As an experienced developer of best-in-class solutions, you’ll bring new perspectives that advance the way we think about and use data across the business.

Of course, you won’t be doing this alone. You will have a high-performing (and growing!) team of Analytics Engineers to support you. Developing the capabilities of this team will be key, as will leading the hiring efforts required to successfully scale the function. Initially you will retain some hands-on responsibility, being involved in the development and execution of key projects; this role will move to a full-time leadership role as the business scales.

What you’ll do

  • Technical leadership: Lead the technical and strategic direction of Analytics Engineering. Drive the creation and implementation of best-practices for building data pipelines, including in data modelling, ingestion, orchestration, and testing. Oversee engineering excellence across our data environments.
  • Team leadership: Build a high-performing team of Analytic Engineers, owning the people-management of the team as well as our recruitment and onboarding processes. Ensure a clear framework exists for development of talent, and mentor the team in sustained skills-growth.
  • Tooling/Architecture: Lead on the design, development, and deployment of our analytics infrastructure, ensuring we operate with reliability at scale.
  • Stakeholder management: Work with Platform teams to ensure reliable, scalable, robust architecture for our data platform. Set standards with the Engineering team to ensure application-design accommodates downstream analytics and reporting requirements. Collaborate with Product Analytics leaders to develop workflows in data modelling, automation, and tooling that ensure a continuous delivery of value.
  • Next-gen improvements: Plan and oversee the integration of LLMs and generative AI tools into our analytics workflow to supercharge the capabilities of all Data team members.
  • Hands-on development: Remain an individual contributor to our Analytic Engineering code base. Build an extraordinary platform that empowers Cleo to leverage data for a wide range of use cases.

Who you are

You are an exceptional Analytics Engineer and experienced manager. You have a significant track-record deploying best-in-class data-pipeline solutions in a data-hungry business. You are a leader who is excited about the opportunities and challenges that come with scaling analytics infrastructure for a successful, fast-growing digital product. You are keen to remain involved in the delivery of Analytic-Engineering products, and have significant technical experience across the full data lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in an Analytics Engineering or similar position
  • A record of building and leading a high-performing team within a scaling organisation, as both line manager and project leader. A passion for coaching and mentoring, with significant success growing the capabilities of your reports.
