The team:

You’ll join our existing Machine Learning team; a talented team of 13 (and growing!) Machine Learning Engineers responsible for building and deploying production level models into Cleo’s products. 

Cross-collaboration is key at Cleo, which means long gone are the days of siloed centralised Data Science functions. As a Machine Learning Engineer at Cleo you will be an embedded part of a cross-functional team made up of engineers, product managers and analysts.

You’ll primarily be leveraging advanced Natural Language Processing and Generative AI techniques to make Cleo more intelligent and improve our chatbot utility across a multitude of interesting use cases:

• Enabling deeper understanding of our users financial situations and goals using transaction-level NLP to aid stronger coachability on saving and spending
• Enhanced user activation experience 
• Creating a best-in-class customer service experience in chat
• Growing user acquisition & engagement across our products

What you’ll be doing

• Training or fine-tuning machine learning models, and collaborating with the engineering team to integrate them into Cleo’s product.
• Utilizing large language models such as GPT, to continue developing our hyper-personalized AI assistant and make sense of bank transactions
• A wide range of ML tasks: classification, recommender systems, generative models
• Finding opportunities for model and product improvements in Cleo's extensive datasets of chat conversations, spending patterns, and app interactions

About you

• Experience in data science, machine learning engineering, or related roles
• Familiarity with deep learning and transformer models for NLP
• Sound understanding of how the models you build drive user and business impact
• Proficient in Python programming and able to write moderate to complex SQL queries
• Strong ability to communicate findings to non-technical stakeholders
• Experience deploying machine learning models into production; familiarity with Docker containers and container orchestration tools is a plus
