Quality Engineering Manager

To support our ambitious vision and meet the needs of our rapidly growing customer base, we are heavily investing in quality. We are searching for an experienced QA leader who can lead the Quality Engineering team and scale with the company's rapid growth.

The Team:

The Quality Engineering team is responsible for supporting all engineering teams with strategic testing and critical insights on quality throughout the planning, development, and release cycles. The team’s mission is to enable all teams to deliver a high-quality and reliable product that meets our customers' expectations. Additionally, the Quality Engineering team aims to ensure that a culture of quality is built-in at scale.

You will be leading a team of five quality engineers, which we expect to grow in the next 3-6 months. This role reports directly to the VP of Engineering.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of QA engineers who are embedded across all engineering teams.
  • Guide and mentor QA team members to enhance their technical and organizational impact and develop their roles.
  • Take ownership of QA vendor relationships and set team strategy to achieve high ROI on testing investments and resource balancing.
  • Scale our quality culture by working with EPD teams and leadership to align on goals, deliver high-quality outcomes, and adopt best practices.
  • Collaborate with peers in EPD leadership to establish quarterly quality goals, align around the QA model and support, and enable the team to deliver high-quality outcomes.

You’re someone who has:

  • 7-10 years of experience in quality assurance, with a strong background in software testing and test automation. This includes experience leading a team of testers, developing and implementing quality assurance strategies, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading a QA team, providing guidance and support to team members, setting goals and expectations, and providing feedback and coaching.
  • Experience overseeing QA execution across multiple teams, and helping to build a responsive and consistent QA process that meets changing team needs.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior management. You should be able to clearly and concisely communicate team status, risks, and issues.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in test methodologies, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and provide data-driven insights.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in web application testing and continuous delivery.
  • Solid understanding of audio and video technology, including various formats, codecs, and standards. Familiarity with video and audio editing software, as well as specific test methodologies in this field.
  • Understanding of AI technologies, including machine learning algorithms and natural language processing, as well as related QA methodologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing automated testing frameworks, tools, and scripts.
  • Experience leading teams at a startup with a high rate of change.

The base salary range for this role is $165,000- $190,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and they may vary from the amount above.
