Software Engineer - Video

Our vision is to build the next-generation platform to enable easy and fast creation of audio and video content powered by cutting-edge AI. Building a revolutionary way to record, transcribe, edit and mix spoken audio and video comes with a series of unique challenges and requires solving hard and complex problems.

We are looking for an experienced software engineer with significant video expertise to invent a new paradigm that brings the simplicity of word processing to audio and video production. Building such an experience requires designing cross-platform (web, desktop, mobile) solutions to problems surrounding complex real-time video playback, compositing and editing for large-sized files (hundreds of gigabytes).

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build a cross-platform media engine to enable video playback and editing capabilities on our desktop and web app, using web technologies
  • Mentor members on the engineering team, especially when it comes to Video technologies
  • Be an evangelist for elevating our engineering practices and processes
  • Discover, evaluate and adopt new technologies that can enhance our services and/or improve our efficiency
  • Dedicated to shipping a quality/bug-free product through testable and tested code

What You Bring

  • BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics)
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong CS fundamentals and experience with video creation, editing, and playback.
  • Understanding of uncompressed video formats and codecs (e.g. HLS, MPEG-DASH)
  • Self-aware of strengths and seeking to constantly learn and improve
  • Strong written and verbal communication

At our current size and stage, we embrace a flat organizational structure and value the expertise and contributions of every team member. As such, we have a unified job title for our engineering roles where everyone, including those with Staff-level scope, is considered a Software Engineer. While titles may not change, we are actively seeking senior and above Software Engineers to join our team.

The base salary range for this role is $160,000- $240,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, location, and may vary from the amount above.
