Engagement Manager

About Faculty

Faculty transforms organisational performance through safe, impactful and human-led AI.

We are Europe’s leading applied AI company, and saw its potential a decade ago - long before the current hype cycle.

We were founded in 2014 with our Fellowship programme, training academics to become commercial data scientists.

Today, we provide over 300 global customers with industry-leading software, and bespoke AI consultancy for retail, healthcare, energy, and governmental organisations, as well as our award winning Fellowship.

Our expertise and safety credentials are such that OpenAI asked us to be their first technical partner, helping customers deploy cutting-edge generative AI safely.

Our high-impact work has saved lives through forecasting NHS demand during covid, produced green energy by routing boats towards the wind, slashed marketing spend by predicting customer spending habits, and kept children safe online.

AI is an epoch-defining technology. We want people to join us who can help our customers reap its enormous benefits safely.

What you’ll be doing:

This role is situated within our Applied AI consultancy, which serves clients across UK Defence, Government, Life Sciences, Energy, Banking and Retail. As an Engagement Manager, you will work in the business area where the need is greatest and this may change from time-to-time, depending on our external client requirements. We are a rapidly growing business and require all our employees to be versatile across sectors and confident to be client-facing within those.

Because of the potential to work with our UK Defence clients, you will need to be eligible for UK SC clearance and willing to work up to three days per week on site with these customers, which may require travel to locations outside of our London base. The minimum requirement for SC clearance is 5 years continuous residence in the UK up to the present.

As an Engagement Manager you will be focused on serving the needs of our customers across multiple domains and applying Al to real-world problems that have a tangible impact.

Your responsibilities will include:

Delivery

  • Own end-to-end project delivery from structuring project plans, to managing product development, and ensuring our delivery approach brings maximum value to the customer
  • Work closely with customers and technical teams to design smart ways of helping them solve their business problems across a wide range of different disciplines and sectors and ensure that projects run smoothly on a day-to-day basis
  • Product management; working with product designers and engineers to develop solutions which fit into customer workflows and support their business needs on an ongoing basis

Relationship Building

  • Continuously develop customer relationships as the primary point of contact during projects and be responsible for ensuring that our projects meet their objectives, and run to time
  • Identify new commercial opportunities, contributing to the preparation and delivery of new business pitches and proposals to land new or expand current work across the sectors in which you work.

Thought Leadership

  • Help our business unit continuously improve; take a proactive role in developing good processes and practices that help us deliver on our objectives.
  • Take a role in proactively developing your peers both more junior team members, and those with different areas of expertise.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research in a wide variety of fields that are relevant to our work

Who we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in professional services; ideally consulting, technology or data with a preference for AI
  • Delivery excellence; taking responsibility for ensuring the successful delivery of your projects and owning development of high-quality written deliverables and reports.
  • Previous exposure to managing senior stakeholders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, aptitude for translating technical details to a wide range of both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Previous experience working alongside technical experts and delivering technical projects
  • Enthusiasm for how Al and data can be used to solve problems; ability to think creatively and talk persuasively about how these can be applied to a particular customer's needs in order to support our Business Development
  • Practical; interest and ability to come up with novel ways of solving problems
  • Self-starter mentality; aptitude to quickly identify what needs to be done, and proactively implement solutions
  • A real interest in the deployment of AI to address real-world problems

What we can offer you:

The Faculty team is diverse and distinctive, and we all come from different personal, professional and organisational backgrounds. We all have one thing in common: we are driven by a deep intellectual curiosity that powers us forward each day.

Faculty is the professional challenge of a lifetime. You’ll be surrounded by an impressive group of brilliant minds working to achieve our collective goals. Our consultants, product developers, business development specialists, operations professionals and more all bring something unique to Faculty, and you’ll learn something new from everyone you meet. You’ll also have the opportunity to make your mark on a high-growth start-up now poised to expand internationally.
