Design engineer (UX Developer, Front-end developer)

Fixie is using AI to rethink how the world builds software systems. We envision a future of software systems comprised of AI-powered agents that interact with humans, and each other, using natural language.

We are developing the first enterprise platform for building applications using Large Language Models, such as GPT-3, Anthropic's Claude, as well as open source models. Using the Fixie platform, developers can harness the power of LLMs to interface to a wide range of data sources, APIs, external systems, and tools, enabling an entirely new way to build software. Fixie extends the capabilities of systems like ChatGPT with arbitrary connections to the outside world.

We're hiring for our first Design Engineer. You'll play a lead role in designing and building out our core application. You'll own features from beginning to end, working directly with the CPO to understand customer needs, design solutions that address them, and then make them a reality. We're looking for people who care deeply about craft and the quality of their work.

Our front-end tech stack is composed of React and Tailwind, so comfort with one or both of those is important (though not vital!). Our back-end is Python and Django, so experience with those is a plus.

If you love sitting at the intersection of great design and smart implementation, get in touch!

We're based in Seattle.

Here are some of the concrete things we're looking for:

  • Strong experience with Javascript and building with React
  • Experience designing, prototyping, and building out end-to-end experiences
  • Comfort with design tools like Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, etc
  • Great communication, both written and verbal
  • Comfort with ambiguity and moving quickly
  • Excitement over the idea of having end-to-end ownership of a product or feature
