Founding Content Marketing Lead

👋 What is Fluent and what do we do?

Our recent $7.5M investment round

Product demo

At Fluent, we use cutting-edge AI to answer your data questions. We help our customers answer questions like: “which artists achieved more than 100 million streams over the last year?”, “How many donations did our charity receive last month?” and “Which of our customers are about to churn?” without needing to rely on a data analyst to answer those questions. With Fluent, you simply ask a question in plain English and Fluent serves you the answer.

At Fluent, we believe that a small team of amazing people can outperform the average team of 100 people and have focused on the best and brightest in our team of 11. We are now looking for an exceptional content lead who is excited by the prospect of driving data fluency in the organisations we work with and making data something which can be mastered by everyone, not just those that are technical.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity now because of the recent developments in AI technology, which has opened up the opportunity for non-technical team members to interact with data without needing to know SQL or structured data. Previously, companies like Tableau, PowerBI and Looker have struggled to achieve adoption across the organisations they serve because of these technical constraints. As a result, the perception amongst non-technical users is that data is not for them, which is something we are changing with the Fluent product and want to change with the content we produce.

🌈 Why we’re investing in content marketing

This is the first marketing role we’re hiring at Fluent and is a central pillar of our go-to-market strategy. We think this role is exciting for the following reasons:

  1. Perception of data in a market where the rules are being redefined. Data is largely perceived as something that non-technical team members consider ‘not for me’. There is a massive opportunity to change that and we want to create a brand that stands for that change.
  2. Over the last year, 250,000 people have already engaged with the Fluent website, driven through viral social media posts on platforms like Reddit and Twitter. This has been with zero marketing spend and highlights the interest in solutions that can make data accessible to non-technical team members.
  3. There are communities all about data, such as r/dataisbeautiful that are ready to be tapped into offering powerful distribution opportunities that are currently heavily under-leveraged by other players in our market.
  4. Data teams are the buyers of the Fluent product and a large percentage of the organisations that we speak to have tried to build Fluent internally, using LLMs like ChatGPT, but haven’t been able to solve the technical challenges involved. This means they are very knowledgeable on what they are looking for and we just need to be found by them.

You will be our first marketing hire. In the beginning the role will be highly experimental to discover the best ways to engage our target audience through different channels. You will be helping with:

  • SEO: You understand SEO and keep up to date with the ever-changing landscape that Google has created, as well as on new technologies, like ChatGPT, and have strong opinions (for or against) on how these technologies are impacting Content Marketing and how we can best take advantage of them.
  • Analytical: You are highly analytical and data-driven - you can manage many complex parts of the marketing process, providing numerical updates to stakeholders
  • Writing: Exceptional writing and editing skills, with an ability to adapt content to different styles and tones
  • You: are highly resourceful and executional, happy to roll up your sleeves to get any job done
