Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About Foundry

At Foundry we are on a mission to orchestrate the world’s compute capacity, rendering it universally accessible and useful. To do so, we are building a new breed of public cloud, backed by an orchestration platform that makes accessing AI compute as easy as turning on the light. We spun out of a PhD lab at Stanford about a year ago, and are backed by Sequoia, Lightspeed, Jeff Dean, Eric Schmidt, and many other incredible angels and advisors. We raised $80M to date, have customers, and revenue.

Cloud computing is supposed to abstract away the hardware layer but ML infra is more complex than ever. Engineers should spend less time focusing on which chip they should use and more time on solving hard problems. Our orchestration platform makes using compute resources as easy as flipping a light switch. For more information, see below.

Working at Foundry

We are not looking to change an industry—we are looking to revolutionize it. We don’t just dream big—we have the audacity to dream massively. We are not reaching for the stars to land on the moon—we are reaching for Mars, or even another galaxy. We make the impossible possible.

We focus on energy and clarity. We are team players, daring truth seekers, with no ego. We are growing quickly but maintain a flat structure by having an ownership mentality. We believe in asking the right questions in order to solve hard problems.

Joining Foundry

As a key member of our team, you’ll spearhead the development, deployment, and maintenance of critical new services, ensuring they meet our high standards of stability and reliability.

You’ll apply cutting-edge techniques rooted in broad industry experience to enhance our platform’s performance. Your responsibilities will span both Cloud SRE and on-premise systems administration, with a focus on managing the stability of advanced GPU services and optimizing monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks, guided by Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Objectives (SLOs).

Collaboration is at the heart of this role—you’ll work closely with diverse product teams and technical customers to design scalable solutions. Using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, you’ll implement fault-tolerant design patterns and build automation tools to streamline operations. Participation in an on-call rotation will be essential to maintain service reliability.

If you’re passionate about engineering reliability and thrive in a dynamic environment where innovation and stability go hand in hand, Foundry offers a unique opportunity to drive impactful change and shape the future of our infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated track record in roles such as reliability engineer, production engineer, infrastructure software engineer, or similar, preferably within a dynamic, rapidly growing organization.
  • Proficiency in cloud infrastructure, encompassing scheduling, scaling, cloud storage, networking, and security principles.
  • Skilled in programming and scripting languages.
  • Experience with containerization technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, OpenTofu, or equivalent solutions.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on communication and collaboration.
  • Proficiency with observability tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK stack, or similar technologies.
  • Experience optimizing bare metal and GPU performance in Linux environments, including troubleshooting hardware devices.
  • Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
