Role

We're seeking a Content Design Intern for Summer 2025. We welcome both returning students and non-student career changers who are pivoting into content design — if you're curious about how language shapes AI experiences, this role is for you.

As a content design intern with Glean’s small but influential design team, you’ll help create a terminology program. You’ll collaborate with designers, researchers, and content designers to audit and define the terms used in our product — and research how the industry talks about similar concepts. You’ll play an active role in how we shape and document the language that powers our platform.

Terms are the building blocks of a product’s information architecture. What we choose to call a concept shapes how we think and talk about it — both inside the company and across the industry. Defining terms can also be tricky. How do you give meaning to a new idea, especially in an emerging space like generative AI? How do you introduce unfamiliar concepts in ways that are clear, helpful, and grounded in metaphor?

You’ll help the product team gather and evaluate terminology across our products. You’ll explore industry definitions and alternative framings, and define a clear, consistent set of terms for Glean. You’ll also help shape a system to document and share those insights.

You’ll be supported by mentorship, existing frameworks, and tools — and by the end of your internship, you’ll have delivered a foundation that other teams at Glean can use and build on. This is a hybrid 12 week internship role based out of Palo Alto.

What You'll Do

• You’ll embed with the product design team, collaborating with designers, product managers, and engineers to identify terminology opportunities and understand product context.
• You’ll work closely with our content designer to refine strategy, brainstorm ideas, and build your skills. You’ll also connect with our other interns this summer to share knowledge and learn together.
• You’ll define and deliver a terms list, supported by research, documentation, and recommendations on how to maintain it and help others use it well. Your work will directly shape how we scale language systems across our AI platform.
• You’ll contribute to other content design projects, gaining hands-on experience with UX writing and learning how writing fits into the broader design process.

What We're Looking For

• Returning students with a graduation date in Spring 2026, enrolled in an undergrad or graduate degree related to English, linguistics, communications, HCI, computer science, or other fields related to content design, or
• Those who are not enrolled in a degree program, but are pivoting from an unrelated field into UX writing, content design or content strategy
• A team player, a strong desire to learn, with an ownership mentality
• Someone who's comfortable working in a fast paced, data-driven environment
• An interest in terminology, taxonomy, ontology, and other infrastructural language systems
• A strong foundation or interest in software systems or generative AI and LLM products
• Someone to join us on site, 3 days a week in Glean’s Palo Alto office

Monthly Compensation:

• Base salary: $8,000
