The Impact You’ll Have

This dynamic and experienced Head of Sales Engineering will establish and grow our Sales Engineering team at Gretel. This leader will be responsible for driving the overall success of our pre-sales efforts, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, and providing strategic direction to further establish Gretel as a leader in synthetic data generation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a senior technical point of contact for complex customer interactions, providing expert guidance and support while navigating challenging situations. 
  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Sales to develop and execute sales strategies, including pricing, packaging, and positioning of our synthetic data solutions.
  • Build processes to ensure alignment between customers, Product Management, Applied Science, Engineering, and other teams.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of demos and POCs that align with customer needs and drive successful sales outcomes.
  • Lead by example by owning your own pipeline and leading, mentoring, and motivating the future Sales Engineering team to achieve individual and collective goals. 
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to develop and align the Sales Engineering strategy with the overall sales and business objectives of Gretel.
  • Plan, allocate, and leverage Gretel resources effectively to support the Sales Engineering team in meeting customer demands and achieving sales targets.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the success and efficiency of the Sales Engineering team's efforts. Work with RevOps and VP of Sales to provide regular reports and updates to the executive team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and managing a high-performing team of Sales Engineers in a cloud-based technical environment. 
  • Demonstrated success in pre-sales roles, showcasing a deep understanding of technical sales processes, qualification, and technical champion building.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong technical background in at least one of three technical proficiency areas: software engineering, data science/machine learning, or cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience working within distributed systems, cloud, hybrid and on-premise environments.
  • Highly resourceful and able to navigate a fully remote environment to effectively solve complex customer problems.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ Years of experience working with state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning models.
  • 3+ Years of exposure to modern machine learning frameworks and technologies (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, transformers).
  • Previous engineering experience in: Data Engineering, MLOps, Kubernetes, GCP / AWS / Azure.
  • Knowledge of data privacy concepts, data security, and data privacy regulations including anonymization, de-identification, privacy by design, GDPR, etc.
  • Experience implementing or working with data anonymization or data obfuscation techniques is preferred.
  • Previous experience within a team that underwent a high growth stage.

Compensation

Employee compensation will be determined based on interview performance, level of experience, specialization of skills, and market rate. During the offer discussion, your recruiter will review the finalized base salary, commission/bonus (for applicable roles), benefits and perks (additional information available on our career site), and stock options as they’ll be reflected in the offer letter. 

Employees hired in the U.S. and Canada can expect the below information to reflect a reasonable estimate of the salary offered for this role. Salary ranges are updated regularly using premium market data. (Please note: it is unusual for new hires to receive a base salary at the top of the range. Additionally, the value of Gretel.ai’s stock options is not included in the salary bands and may represent a significant portion of your compensation.)

The annual salary range for this role is $200,000-$240,000 USD, plus variable incentives such as commissions and bonuses.
