Role 

Harvey is looking for a Controller as our first in-house accounting team member, reporting to the CFO. In this role, you will be responsible for building out a world-class accounting function. You will set up scalable processes and systems, and oversee all day-to-day accounting operations (Revenue, AP, AR, payroll, tax, treasury, etc), and provide insights to help inform Harvey’s business decisions. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated interest in technology, and a track record of success in unstructured startup environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare internal and external financial reports on a timely basis; ensure an accurate, efficient and scalable close process
• Plan and lead the accounting function to ensure a successful first audit
• Develop a roadmap for process and systems implementation to scalably support company growth; drive the implementation of this roadmap
• Evaluate and implement robust yet agile controls
• Own treasury, billing, credit/debit card management, payroll, and disbursements
• Manage business filings, federal and state taxes, and other compliance matters
• Build out the accounting team

Qualifications 

• Organized & structured, with ability to build a plan & execute
• Strong verbal & written communication skills
• Demonstrated experience in design and implementation of accounting policies and systems, including in an early-stage environment
• Ability to interact with various levels of the organization, customers, service providers and vendors
• CPA with 12+ years of accounting experience across Big 4 and industry
• Experience with SaaS, subscription & consumption based software revenue recognition, commission accruals & business model
• Desire and willingness to roll up sleeves + ability to effectively recruit, mentor, and motivate a team
• IPO readiness & public company experience desirable

Compensation

In consideration of market analysis and relevant factors, the salary range for this position is set between 240,000 and 300,000. However, adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our equity plan and benefits program. Benefits include, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%), and flexible PTO.
