About the Role

As a Software Engineer on the Data Acquisition team at Harvey, you will own and lead engineering projects in the area of data acquisition including web crawling, data ingestion, and search. We are looking for individuals with past data processing experience that are excited about the role data infrastructure will play in unlocking research advances and AI-native products.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use an in-person work model and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

Responsibilities

  • Cross Functional: Collaborate with other teams, such as Research and Product, to ensure smooth data flow and availability.
  • Efficient and Available: Architect and implement algorithms for data indexing and search capabilities.
  • Unstructured to Structured: Index and organize data using classical and AI / ML techniques, optimizing for compute cost and consumer needs.
  • Infrastructure: Maintain and optimize data processing infrastructure and provide tooling for consumers.

Qualifications

Candidates should have 5+ YoE (post-BS/MS) in a data infra role. Additionally, you may be a strong fit for this role if you:

  • Have strong expertise in large stateful distributed systems and data processing.
  • Are self-directed and comfortable working autonomously.
  • Have experience driving major projects to completion - ideally with significant practical impact.
  • Empathetic communication and leadership: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real time
  • Maintain a high personal velocity and move with urgency and agency.

Compensation

In consideration of market analysis and relevant factors, the salary range for this position is set between $190,000 and $265,000. However, adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in our equity plan and benefits program. Benefits include, but not limited to: Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage, retirement benefits (401k match up to 4%), and flexible PTO.
