Senior Network Operations Engineer

Overview:

As a Senior Network/DevOps Engineer you know that a well-designed network is important to securely transport data, but how can a company make sure the network fits the current and ever-evolving needs? Maintaining the right network, that is effortlessly up-to-date with updates, patches, features, versions and capabilities, and strong enough to sustain global high availability targets, with the right equipment and software is an art. That is why we are looking for maestros, senior network engineers who know exactly how to create the exact balance of a scalable, hybrid and multi cloud environment, that provides all the function, performance and effortless resiliency, creative experts such as LivePerson needs. To deliver feature rich, bleeding edge concepts to our customers, securely.

 

You will:

As a Network/DevOps Engineer at LivePerson, you will be a hands-on technician who will work in a diverse team as an integrated organizational partner, to architect, build and sustain a highly available global network, while developing the latest multi cloud solutions. You will collaborate with every team member in a system of lifecycle to implement and promote the strategic goals and operational needs that shape the network requirements. You will share your expertise during the planning of acquisition, installation, configuration and maintenance of the network infrastructure components. From resolving interoperability issues across platforms, to supporting acquisition and deployment of solutions and services, you will be challenged in all areas of your current experience here at LivePerson. You will be an important participant in LivePerson's Digital and Privacy transformation success story.

You will report to the Director of Security Engineering and SecOps.

You have:

  • 2+ years of experience with REST and SOAP API integrations
  • 2+ years of experience with Ansible deployments and creating ansible playbooks
  • Experience coding automation tests in a web application environment
  • Some exposure to RestAPI, web applications testing like SoapUI, Postman, etc and specifically Agile development environments
  • Experience working with CI/CD tools including GIT, TeamCity or Jenkins
  • Experience modeling network configuration in JSON, YAML or YANG
  • Proficient in firewall management and automation tools such as Firemon, Tufin, AlgoSec
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, AJAX and JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience with current day on prem and cloud-based networking technologies (LAN, WAN, firewall, SDWAN, BGP, DNS, load balancing, VPN, etc)
  • Experience working with Open-Source software and libraries
  • Experienced in troubleshooting at tools and scripts
  • Experience deploying IaaS, PaaS or SaaS
  • Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Compute, Network, Storage and Backup
  • Knowledge of API design and Object-oriented principles
  • Experience building an automated infrastructure
  • Prior success in automating a real-world production environment
  • Experienced with application pipelines for containerized and legacy applications running in the cloud and on-premises

Additional requirements:

  • Collect feedback and requirements from design and technical staff
  • Create conceptual diagrams, visual mock-ups, and manage detailed user interface specifications
  • Conduct automated usability and functional UI testing
  • Conduct code reviews
  • Experience with protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP and OSPF
  • Support on-call rotation
  • Collaborate with other teams to reduce MTTR or production incidents through automated healing mechanisms and curating health indicators. Troubleshoot issues in real-time as part of incident response.
  • Operate in a 7x24 operational environment (working in shifts)
  • Handle stressful situations with a level headed approach
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills (English)
  • Able to react quickly to multiple problems, and follows established procedures to implement solutions.
  • Collaborate with technical teams and cloud vendors to define best practice adoption of cloud technology and provide best solutions
  • Knowledge in Networking OSI model and networking protocols
  • Scripting skills such as PowerShell, Python, Bash, Ruby, Perl, etc
  • Awareness and use of security technologies in networking development
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience deploying and managing applications to public cloud systems
  • 5+ years on NOC/Monitoring environment
  • Advanced practical Linux and Windows systems administrative skill in cloud and virtualized environments - Advantage
  • ASP.NET, JavaScript and C# programming skills
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Chef, puppet, Salt or Ansible in production environments
  • Understanding of Service-Oriented Engineering (SOA and REST)
  • Will guide/mentor junior staff
  • Experience working with service owners and other teams
  • Work with Monitoring tools (Zabbix, Kibana, Kentik, AppDynamics, or Nagios) - Advantage
  • Relevant courses and certifications (CCNA, CCNP) - Advantage
