Senior Virtualization Engineer

Overview:

The LivePerson SRE team is looking for talented Virtualization Engineers to join our Virtualization team. We are looking to provide product and engineering teams with a world-class IaaS platform

You will report to the Director, DevOps.

You will:

• Oversee the design, implementation, maintenance, monitoring, and support of all VMWare and OpenStack infrastructure globally.

• Assist with strategic direction by contributing to new technologies and standard operating procedures around OS management and virtualization platforms
• Perform lifecycle management and capacity planning for virtualization platforms.
• Identify migration requirements from old to new equipment, including equipment cascades where applicable.
• Help train fellow Virtualization teammates.
• Maintain golden image pipelines and OS patching procedures for Linux and Windows systems.
• Employ DevOps principles and tools to automate processes.
• Participate in projects as a virtualization infrastructure subject matter expert
• Recommend and implement virtualization platform best practices.
• Recommend and implement strategies to improve server efficiency.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call support rotation.

You have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, or in place of a 4-year degree, equivalent engineering work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in a Virtualization Engineer, Cloud Operations, or DevOps role.
• 4+ years of experience with VMware or OpenStack.
• 2+ years of experience in one or more scripting languages.
• Experience managing infrastructure in a hybrid cloud (on-prem and public cloud)
• Experience with Python or Ansible
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform .
• Experience with any major public cloud is desirable.
