General Accountant - Paris
Role Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive General Accountant to establish and maintain our accounting systems, manage finances, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. This role is critical in shaping our financial processes and driving our company's growth.
Key Responsibilities
As our first internal General Accountant, you'll report directly to our Head of Finance. You will collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, and operations, to support business decisions.
Your scope will be global (we currently have offices in France, the UK, and the US) and will be divided as follows:
1/ Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Manage the accounts payable process
• Oversee accounts receivable: Handle customer invoicing, track payments, and manage collections to maintain healthy cash flow.
• Ensure payroll compliance: Work with the payroll department to ensure compliance with tax and labor laws, including accurate recording of payroll expenses.
2/ Financial Management
• Monitor cash flow: Assist in managing cash flow and liquidity by tracking income and expenses.
• Support banking activities: Assist in maintaining banking relationships and ensuring accurate recording of banking transactions.
• Implement internal controls: Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Assist in internal reviews: Participate in internal reviews to identify and address potential financial risks.
3/ Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
• Prepare tax returns: Assist in the preparation and filing of tax returns, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax for entities in France, the UK, and the US.
• Ensure tax compliance: Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Assist in regulatory reporting: Support the preparation and submission of regulatory filings as needed, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements.
This position will most likely lead to a management / leadership position.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (French DCG or DSCG), Finance, or a related field
• A total 8-10 years of experience in accounting roles
• Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a scale-up or corporate environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and tax regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software, including SAP
• Experience with international accounting standards (IFRS)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Bilingualism (French and English)
