Senior Manager, Order to Cash (OTC)

OpenAI Finance is responsible for ensuring the organization is set up for success in pursuit of its mission. The Billing and Collection team is pivotal in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of billing and collections, providing critical support to the broader revenue function and the overall organization. Our team works collaboratively to optimize our operations and provide exceptional service to our diverse range of customers.

About the Role

We are looking for a leader to build and scale our Billing and Collection organization, reporting directly to the Head of Revenue Accounting and Operations. In this role, you will be responsible for setting and implementing the strategic direction of your team. You and your team will collaborate with stakeholders in accounting, applied, go-to-market, legal and other teams to drive hyper-scale transformation in systems and processes. OpenAI’s customers represent a range of diverse backgrounds and maturity, from individual users to early-stage startups to established global enterprises. Your work will ensure that we have a world-class experience for all of our customers. 

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

• Define and execute on strategic initiatives for the Billing and Collections team, driving efficiency, accuracy and scalability in our processes through continuous improvement and innovation. 
• Lead and grow a high performing team, including driving organizational design, development tracks, and vendor management. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability and empathy.
• Build robust system and processes that enable us to scale with our business and customers
• Leverage data and analytics to identify root causes of issues, uncover opportunities for process improvements, and develop comprehensive action plans to address them.
• Partner with cross-functional teams across OpenAI to identify challenges and opportunities, drive solutions, and shape the overall experience for OpenAI customers. 

You might thrive in this role if you: 

• Have 8+ years of experience in leading Billing, Collections and Operations teams, ideally in tech startups with a mix of B2C and B2B products and strong understanding of Quote to Cash. 
• Possess operational knowledge of ASC 606
• Demonstrate a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams, including managing offshore excellence centers. 
• Have experience leading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives, and building strong relationships with cross-functional teams
• Operate with high horsepower and ownership, showing a proactive approach to picking up new knowledge and tackling tasks to ensure your team’s success.
• Are comfortable using data-driven insights to design and implement process improvements
