Engineering Manager - Machine Learning (f/m/d)*

YOUR MISSION:

As Engineering Manager (f/m/d)* for the Machine Learning team, you will empower and lead a team of experienced machine learning engineers to  design and develop a cutting-edge machine learning platform. You will support your team in AI experimentation and fine-tuning foundational models that power our automation platform and enhance the experience for customer interactions based on AI. You will make a difference for your engineers by supporting their growth and motivating them to solve complex challenges as a team to transform the entire customer service industry leveraging data and AI.

 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Hire and lead a team of 3-5 machine learning engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence 
  • Provide a strong vision for the machine learning platform at Parloa in accordance with business needs
  • Empower your team take ownership of building and improving the machine learning platform at Parloa, including experimentation, model fine-tuning and productionization, maintenance, observability, GenAI evaluation models 
  • Act as the technical product owner for the machine learning platform, anticipating and prioritizing the needs of users effectively in compliance with data governance and protection requirements
  • Develop your team via effective coaching and by providing them with growth opportunities
  • Contribute hands-on to technical projects (~10-20% of your time)

 

Our Tech stack (Data):

Microsoft Azure, Python, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Databricks, OpenAI, MongoDB, Redis (more technologies to be added as we build our data platform, like e.g. DeltaLake)

 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 7+ years of experience as a machine learning engineer and/or technical lead/engineering manager
  • Thereof 3+ years of experience as a people manager
  • Experience with owning the ML process end-to-end: translating product requirements into technical requirements, data gathering/transformation and exploration, model productionization, maintenance, monitoring and optimization
  • Experience working with NLP, LLMs and information retrieval; experience with LLMs in a production environment is a strong plus
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with the cloud technologies
  • Experience in leading large and complex technical projects (1 year+ roadmap)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
