The platform team at Pinecone is responsible for the delivery of the highly available, scalable, multi cloud infrastructure that serves the Pinecone vector database.

As the Director of Engineering at Pinecone, you will own the platform working with leaders across the company to hire world class talent, lead the organizational design, develop robust processes to execute efficiently against our product strategy and to deliver a world class SaaS infrastructure for our customers. 

Responsibilities: 

• Deliver high quality platform abstractions and runtimes for secure, scalable resource management and orchestration for the vector database.
• Ensure high SLAs across owned services
• Grow a world class team of engineers and groom world class leaders. 
• Develop and improve processes that ensure consistent delivery against objectives and drive strong alignment across engineering, product and field.
• Evolve the organizational structure to meet long term objectives.

What we look for: 

• 10+ years of experience leading world class infrastructure/ platform teams
• Experience being responsible for testing, quality, SLAs
• Prior experience building and leading teams in related areas like distributed data platforms, databases.
• Comfortable working towards a multi-year vision for the platform with incremental deliverables
• Experience building and running cloud platforms
• Ability to attract, hire, mentor and grow world class engineers
