Lead Systems Integration Engineer

Your New Role and Team
Sanctuary AI–a multi-award-winning LinkedIn Top Startup company, is looking to hire a skilled and motivated Lead Systems Integration Engineer. As a main system integration contributor, you will play a crucial role in seamlessly merging our general-purpose robots' mechanical, electronic, and software components. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer (CPO), you will actively contribute to the integration process, ensuring the delivery of robotic systems that are both capable and reliable.

Our sophisticated general-purpose robotic system, accessible remotely, encompasses a multitude of interacting software, networking, and hardware components. Ensuring seamless interaction and swiftly identifying friction points is crucial for timely and dependable project deliveries. As Sanctuary AI's Lead Integration Engineer, you'll be a valued part of the team as you define a methodology and lead the team to quickly resolve system-level integration issues and contribute to enhancing the general-purpose robots' overall reliability, performance, and safety.

Our Success Criteria
  • Lead and manage the system integration team, setting clear goals and ensuring project milestones are met
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design, electronics, and software development, to ensure a cohesive integration strategy
  • Develop and implement robust integration processes and methodologies, optimizing for efficiency, reliability, and scalability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration issues, applying a deep understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of robotics
  • Oversee the testing and validation of integrated systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and quality standards
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing regular updates on integration progress, challenges, and achievements

  • Your Experience
    Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a complex hardware and software integration role, with at least 2 years in a leadership position
  • Expert-level technical background in robotics, including familiarity with robotic components, systems, and software
  • Proven ability to manage and lead technical teams, driving projects to completion within tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated success in multidisciplinary design environments, overseeing test cases, progress monitoring, user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions, and ensuring organized and timely data acquisition activities
  • Experience developing and managing data analysis tools and data aggregation tools for systemic debugging
  • Experience collaborating with engineers and project stakeholders to clarify business requirements and testing expectations

  • Skills
  • Experience with shells and scripting languages: Bash, Zsh, Python, Java Script, etc.
  • Proficiency in UNIX or Linux
  • Expert-level knowledge of IP networking protocols. Deep understanding of communication infrastructures (TCP/IP, QoS, encryption, etc.)
  • Advanced networking skills: IP routing and switching (DHCP, NAT, VLAN, Security, etc.)
  • Proficiency in implementing multiple software development principles and programming languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Matlab)
  • Understanding of automated testing (i.e., Selenium, Cypress, Insomnia, PHPUnit)
  • Experience with sensor hardware and software integration
  • Understanding of control systems and experience designing or testing controllers in real-world applications
  • Familiarity with calibration techniques used in machine vision systems and robotics
  • Experience setting up hardware testing fixtures and apparatuses

  • Entry-rate Annual Salary: $135,000 CAD and up

    Compensation:
    At Sanctuary AI, we provide above average total compensation that includes three components: salary, equity, and benefits. Our goal is to ensure fairness in pay and we strive to make the overall package highly competitive with current market rates.

    Equity:
    Equity will play a significant role in the total compensation for this role. Our goal is to provide a generous equity compensation package, exceeding what is typically offered by companies of our size. The specific amount of equity will be communicated to candidates upon receiving an offer.

    The compensation and benefits details provided for this role in Vancouver, BC are based on Sanctuary AI's market evaluation and may be subject to changes in the future. Your pay within the specified range will depend on various job-related factors, such as your past work experience, relevant education, and performance during interviews or work trials. Salary minimum provided is an entry-level rate for this role, as a requirement of the Pay Transparency Act in British Columbia.
