About The Role:
Sandbox AQ is looking for a software engineering intern to work on implementations of advanced AI systems in products and product demos, particularly for large language model (LLM) applications. We are seeking a self-starting, collaborative generalist with excellent communication skills, who is comfortable in a fast-paced and interdisciplinary environment.
This role will be uniquely positioned to work across diverse teams on a variety of projects, where they will play a key role in efficient and effective enablement of the technologies being developed. A successful candidate will be comfortable with cloud-based software development and various frameworks and libraries in the ML ecosystem.
Core Responsibilities
- Build backend systems and associated tooling (CI/CD, dev utilities) or features that support our LLM product applications
- Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate backend services with web applications seamlessly
- Contribute quality code, tests, and technical documentation
- Work with other developers and stakeholders to identify and resolve internal and external facing issues
- Perform code reviews
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrable proficiency in programming languages commonly used in backend development (eg. Python, Golang, Rust, etc)
- Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud) for managing databases and machine learning pipelines
- Experience working with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong problem solving skills and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in auxiliary languages such as SQL, Java, C/C++
- Experience working with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX and Scikit-learn
- MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience
- Experience in a startup environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop and scope early-stage projects
