Residencies at SandboxAQ

We are currently looking for students in a wide variety of STEM fields — physics, computer science, AI, neuroscience, chemistry, cryptography, mathematics/statistics, biomedical engineering, aerospace engineering, geophysics, and more — to join our world-class team of engineers, scientists and technologists.
Navigation Residency - Algorithms
The SandboxAQ Quantum Navigation team deploys state-of-the-art solutions to enable GPS-free navigation using the Earth’s magnetic field. We are looking for a Navigation Resident to join our dynamic team! The resident will work on projects in state estimation, navigation filters, and software development. The successful candidate will work closely with Scientists/Engineers, be collaborative, and possess strong critical thinking skills.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Strong foundation in state estimation, statistics, and software development
- Experience with Kalman Filters and its derivatives
- Knowledge of magnetic navigation is preferred
- Experience with software development, especially Python, C++, and CUDA, and CI/CD best practices, and tools such as Git
- Critical thinking and research skills
- Written communication skills, e.g. experience with scientific writing
Details
- Location: Remote
- Start date: Year-round, on a rolling basis
- Duration: Flexible, typically between 4 months to one year
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled in a STEM PhD or Masters Degree program: Aerospace Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, Mechanical Engineering, Navigation, Robotics, or Autonomy, or similar field
- Proficiency with Python
