We are currently looking for students in a wide variety of STEM fields — physics, computer science, AI, neuroscience, chemistry, cryptography, mathematics/statistics, biomedical engineering, aerospace engineering, geophysics, and more — to join our world-class team of engineers, scientists and technologists.

Biomedical Research

The SandboxAQ Quantum Sensing Team deploys state-of-the-art hardware to expand capabilities in medical diagnosis, GPS-free navigation, and autonomous vehicles. We are looking for a Biomedical Sensing Resident to join our dynamic team! Successful candidates will work at the intersection of analysis and experimental design, working with our data analysis team to explore classical and ML based signal processing approaches to biomedical data. They will interface with both simulated and real data to evaluate the efficacy of these approaches as we deploy biomedical sensor systems in real-world environments. You will work closely with Engineers/Scientists on the data science team to develop algorithms for processing and analyzing real and synthetic data, as well as informing experimental design decisions to optimize the system performance.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and presenting literature on existing signal processing and ML methods for denoising time-series biomedical sensor data
  • Reviewing and presenting literature on paradigms for feature extraction and classification of biomedical sensor data
  • Prototyping, testing and evaluation of advanced classical, as well as ML based, digital signal processing methods on real and simulated datasets
  • Testing and evaluating feature extraction and classification algorithms on large synthetic training sets

Qualifications and Skills

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Ability to work closely and communicate clearly with other team members
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following fields: Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Signal Processing, or Machine Learning
  • Experience designing, building, and using Python code
  • Experience applying Machine Learning methods to time-series data
  • Strong understanding of signal processing fundamentals
  • Strong experimental skills and a hands-on approach to problem solving
  • Intellectual curiosity and a positive attitude

Additional skills that could come in handy:

  • Experience in handling and processing biomedical sensor data
  • Experience with quantum sensors and/or sensor arrays
  • Proficiency with version control tools such as Git

Details:

  • Location: Remote
  • Start date: Year-round, on a rolling basis
  • Duration: Flexible, typically between 3 months to one year

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled in a STEM PhD program: math, computer science, engineering, physics, or related field. **Currently enrolled non-PhD post-graduate students may be considered on a case-by-case basis (e.g. currently enrolled MD, Masters)
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language (Python, C/C++, Matlab, etc.)
    • For questions, email residency@sandboxaq.com
