Payroll Specialist
Scale AI is seeking a highly motivated Payroll Specialist who can take ownership of all aspects of the payroll function, and help lead the payroll function as we continue to rapidly grow and expand domestically and globally.The ideal candidate is highly customer focused, has excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and has a demonstrated ability to build cross-functional relationships. The candidate will have demonstrated experience managing multi-state payrolls and have an excellent understanding of payroll laws and regulations.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to step into a fast paced and rapidly growing environment, and who is excited to be the first payroll hired to help build the payroll function from ground up to support the growing needs of the business.
You will:
- Process payroll for up to 200+ employees including US and international locations
- Calculate prorated earning and deductions for new hires, terminations and leave of absences
- Reconcile health benefit invoices and confirm via deductions from payroll
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
- Handle all payroll related journal entries and reconciliations
- Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential
- Work closely with the HR team on cross functional projects
- Properly file and maintain HR and payroll files
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Communicate with employees and others in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining strict confidentiality of all information
Ideally you’d have:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited, four year college or university
- 2-3 years of Payroll experience
- Strong Excel skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
- Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
- Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Desire to work in a team environment
Nice to haves:
- Deep knowledge of the full life cycle of payroll processing
- Proven experience in implementing and maintaining best in class payroll controls, including in a SOX environment
- Experience with NetSuite, BambooHR, and Traxpayroll
