The Platform Automation Engineering (PAE) team is an agile group of software engineers focused on building cutting-edge automation solutions and core systems, which drive scalability and reliability of Shield AI products by advancing our integration, testing, and manufacturing abilities. 
 
As a growing engineer on PAE, you will work at the intersection of embedded systems, robotics, and automation. You will work on core systems and SDKs for automation, manufacturing software, and user-facing tooling. You will learn best practices and standards for software engineering and integration of robotics and autonomy. You and the team will build solutions that cover a breadth spanning developer tools, production automation, sensor calibrations, and automated integration testing. 
 
We are looking for a software engineer who is eager to learn and grow, while taking on challenging commitments and making things happen. 
Projects that you might work on:
  • Suite of tools/applications for configuring, testing, and calibrating V-BAT aircrafts during production bring up 
  • Hardware in the loop solutions for integration testing V-BAT platforms and avionics 
  • Test infrastructure to enable automated integration testing of Hivemind software 
  • Build an automation application to drive a portable Propulsion Test Stand 
  • Design and build an application to configure an aircraft before leaving manufacturing 
  • Applications to automate common interactions with V-BAT platforms and Hivemind software 
  • Required qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of real-world experience building and releasing software 
  • C++ knowledge 
  • Python knowledge 
  • Linux knowledge 
  • Software management tools (Git, Azure DevOps/Jira, Artifactory) 
  • Experience with robotics or avionics integration and related ecosystem(s) 
  • Experience with test automation, manufacturing software, or sdk development 
  • Experience with development tools for CI/CD 
  • B.S. in Computer Engineering, similar degree, or equivalent practical experience 
  • Exhibit traits showing time management, self-organization, and growth + continuous learning mindset 

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with embedded systems 
  • Experience with autonomy software 
  • You have built software from design, implementation, to release 
  • You have built software that provided value by reducing cost, time, or chance of error. 




  • Total compensation: Salary within range listed above + Bonus + Benefits + Equity (if applicable)
    Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. Information on the benefits offered is here. All offers are contingent on a cleared background check.

    Location guidelines-
    Onsite = 5 days/week
    Hybrid = Several days in the office
    Remote = Remote but able to come to the office as requested for business needs
