Who you are
- You are a thoughtful and caring leader of people.
- You walked the engineer IC walk for 10+ years before moving into management.
- You have 2+ years of experience leading senior engineers and high-performance teams.
- You prefer leading a virtuoso quartet over an average 80-person orchestra.
- You understand the distinction between a group of individuals and a team and take pleasure in transforming the former into the latter.
- You have high standards for product and technical excellence. You have the right tools to lead the team to exceed those through leadership excellence.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with founders and execs on defining strategies along product, technical, people, organizational, and other dimensions.
- Use strong judgement and decisive prioritization to turn creative chaos and ambiguity into disciplined, team-based execution.
- Lead multiple full stack, ML eng, and product pods to launch and land magical product experiences.
- Follow and continuously improve a lightweight, disciplined development process based on Lean principles.
- Find, attract, and hire exceptional engineers.
- Increase psychological safety of the team by using a nuanced, effective, and discerning approach to decision making and conflict resolution.
Bonus points
- Experience working in a space that's moving as fast as generative AI.
- Experience leading teams with SREs, ML engineers, or data engineers.
- Experience dealing with service providers (e.g. Okta) or partners (e.g. OpenAI).
