Union.ai is a Seattle-based startup founded by a team of former Lyft engineers.  We contribute to Flyte,  an open source platform for orchestrating massively scalable machine learning pipelines running on Kubernetes. 

These pipelines power some of the most popular apps on your phone, as well as applications in diverse industries such as song sharing, vaccine research, early cancer detection, global map rendering, financial projecting, and piloting autonomous vehicles.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be Union’s first hire on our sales team! You will play a critical role in building and establishing our sales process. We have an inbound pipeline through our phenomenal open source community (https://flyte.org) and initially, a large part of this role will be focused on delivering value to these companies as we work to convert them into paying customers. You would be a great addition if you have a true desire to see customers benefit from the products you represent and you recognize the power that listening to customers’ needs can have on the outcome of your position. Please note that this is a revenue generating role.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify, qualify, and enable deals by serving as the trusted resource for for our customers
  • Convert relationships into revenue generating customers while selling alongside our leadership team
  • Help us build the playbooks and collateral for generating business with partners from scratch, working closely with the customer success teams, partner engineering teams, and partner marketing
  • Conduct ongoing market research from customer and competitor data and recommend viable new growth strategies
  • Lead with empathy in identifying and understanding the needs of our customers 
  • Collect and evangelize partner success journeys internally with cross functional teams and externally within partner ecosystems
  • Effectively close deals by working with leaders from sales qualified organizations. Each interaction should show that Union is customer obsessed and cares deeply about our partners success
  • Meet and exceed your quarterly and or annual goals
  • Continually quantify and assess areas of opportunity (where in the funnel are conversion issues occurring and why)    
  • Become an expert on the product and feel comfortable addressing questions from business leaders as it relates to Union 

About you:

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic sales, centered around complex software technologies, bonus if you have exposure working in the open source enterprise space
  • Experience working in other areas of the business. Did you start in Product Marketing, dabble in Developer Relations? Start your career as an Engineer? Great! 
  • You have a track record of building strong relationships that allow you to successfully navigating complex negotiations that require consensus across multiple C-suite executives
  • You are an effective communicator and pride yourself in your ability to simplify complex problems to your customers 
  • Your super power is guiding and engaging prospects through the entire buying process, with an obsession to detail 
  • You recognize that a large part of your role is being the voice of the customer, and are able to contribute to the product roadmap by bringing customer feedback and insights back to our team
  • You thrive in ambiguity and you have professional examples of times you were able to figure things out, despite shifting requirements
