Backed by some of the most well-known investors in tech, we’ve reached millions of people to support them throughout their financial lives, from their first paycheck to their first home and beyond. We're hitting headlines too. This year, Forbes named us as one of their Next Billion Dollar Startups, and we were crowned the 'Hottest Tech Scaleup' at the Europas.

On the frontier of design
We're moving through uncharted territory with brand new design challenges around conversation, UI, brand, TOV and generative AI that don’t have much precedent yet. We’re using all that to help people improve their financial health, and solving money problems that make a very real and tangible difference to our users.
The role:
You’ll be joining a new, lean, cross-functional ‘Discovery’ squad set up under our ‘New Bets’ pillar. This squad owns the entire concept discovery process with a goal to quickly validate multiple new concepts and identify the most promising to take to build.
It’s a great opportunity to join an established, successful startup that is continuing to invest in new ideas that will have a major impact on the future growth of Cleo and impact our user’s financial health journey.
What you’ll be doing:
- Polished UI and motion prototypes to inspire a new vision or bring a range of potential concepts to life
- Identifying and targeting the specific needs of users looking to improve their financial health and relationship with money
- Rapid concept testing solutions for users
- Refining and improving product offerings through conducting in-app surveys and harnessing user feedback
- Building an MVP to impact immediate user pain points related to earning more money, reducing bills, switching mortgages or insurance, selling items, and maximising tax deductions
- Rapid testing and feedback with in-app surveys and other feedback mechanisms to quickly iterate and refine concepts to assess Product-Market Fit (PMF).
- Uniting a new pillar of work around the identified user value
About you:
- You should ideally have 5 + years of relevant experience as a designer including time working in a similar new bets, innovation or 0>1 focused role
- You can share mobile app focused design work that shows high quality execution across UI and visual design, rapid prototyping and ideating early stage concepts through to MVP and launch
- You are skilled at taking loosely defined or ambiguous ideas and turning them into tangible and practical and pragmatic potential solutions through an insights and research driven approach
- You have experience of facilitating workshops to drive ideation and align people around a future vision for products and features
- You thrive on and have extensive experience in working quickly and iteratively to bring ideas to life quickly and to test and learn with users
- You are also a strongly outcome-focused individual motivated by the measurable impact your work has on our users and on the product whilst aligning with business OKRs
- You are a strong cross-functional collaborator who can partner successfully with product managers, engineers and commercial teams
How long will the process take?
We aim to move as fast as possible. Usually 3-4 weeks is enough time for us all to get to know each other.
- Step 1: An initial intro phone call with a member of our Talent Team to learn more about your experience and why you want to work at Cleo
- Step 2: A design craft interview with one of our design team to go through some of your relevant design work, assessing design quality, execution and data-driven impact with a focus on prototyping and bringing new concepts to life
- Step 3: A case study with a design manager and product director presenting a more in-depth example of your end-to-end design process for 0>1 or innovation work, your product thinking and impact you’ve delivered
- Step 4: A final Cleo Values interview with two cross-functional peers from our Product, Data, marketing or Engineering teams
What do you get for all your hard work?
- A competitive compensation package (base + equity). You can view our public progression framework and salary bandings here. This role is level PD4 and we can pay between £82,539 - £106,905 pa depending on experience
