What you’ll be doing

We’re looking for a Strategic Finance Associate - Capital Markets to work closely with our CFO and Head of Strategic Finance in the U.S. & Canada. This is a brand new role to join our world-class, data-driven and tech-focused Finance team.

The Strategic Finance Associate - Capital Markets is expected to help with the planning and execution of all capital raising initiatives across both equity and debt capital markets. You will also collaborate with colleagues in Finance, Commercial, Product, Data and Lending in order to synthesize and communicate business financial and operational performance with senior leadership, investors and media partners.

Some of the things you'll get involved with:

  • Contribute to board materials, fundraising materials, and other external reporting to advise investors and other key strategic partners on overall company financial health and performance
  • Engaging with external stakeholders, such as banks and other partners, in both the equity and debt capital markets transactions
  • Helping with the execution of all capital raising initiatives, such as future Series D equity funding, venture debt financing, and other debt facilities
  • Supporting our Investor Relations and external business performance communications strategy
  • Conducting competitor analysis benchmarking, comparable analysis and market research
  • Work closely with the lending team to operationalize and support our lending performance data, dashboard and reporting into external partners and underwriters

What are we looking for?

  • 2-4 years of experience in strategic finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting or venture capital; prior experience at high-growth technology or financial technology startups a plus
  • Comfort creating and presenting materials to an executive audience - proven ability to synthesize key takeaways and easily communicate with key collaborators, cross-functional partners and senior leadership
  • A strong understanding of equity and debt capital markets, financing structures and transactions
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling and problem-solving skills; building and working with financial models and large data sets should come naturally
  • A get sh*t done mindset; You have the ability to quickly pick up new concepts, and dive into a problem with a solutions-oriented, outcome-focused mindset – even with no prior background in the subject matter
  • You're able and excited to conceive of and execute projects independently

Nice to have:

  • A passion or previous experience in the Fintech sector, especially business models with a lending component
  • Experience working for a Global company across different time-zones (you’ll be working with a both a US, Canada & UK team every day)

Logistics

The application process for this role will consist of a video call with a member of the Talent team, followed by a video call with our Strategic Finance Associate (Scott Hanna). You'll then be asked to work on a take-home task ahead of a call with our Head of Strategic Finance (Kyle Booysens). Following this conversation, we'll invite you to two final conversations with our Chief of Staff (Emma Cohen) and a member of our Commercial Team, as well as with our CFO (Chung Ip), all remotely via Google Meet or Zoom.
