Role

The Controller will play a foundational role in building Glean’s accounting infrastructure to scale. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting operations, including technical accounting, GL accounting, AP/AR, tax and stock administration. This role requires someone who is comfortable with ambiguity and can go from 0 to 1. You’ll have substantial exposure to senior leadership, focus on the highest-priority business issues, and be plugged into every facet of the business.

What you’ll be doing:

• Serve as the Financial Controller for Glean’s global operations
• Initially manage our various external consultants handling accounting and tax operations, and will be asked to recruit, train, and lead a world class accounting team across GL accounting, AP / AR, payroll, technical accounting, stock administration, and tax
• Lead all aspects of accounting operations ranging from our month-end close to leading our initial audit process
• Develop a high-quality corporate governance environment and own relationships with auditors
• In partnership with the VP of Finance, serve as the technical accounting decision maker and implement policies across the organization
• Implement and integrate new ERP + HRIS systems 
• In partnership with Legal and VP of Finance, help set up new entities

Who you are:

• You have built an accounting team of meaningful scale and complexity at a venture-backed technology startup in the SaaS / Software industry
• You have 10+ years of experience, ideally with experience at a top-tier accounting firm + in-house accounting
• You have overseen all aspects of accounting, not just a narrow scope
• You have navigated multiple years of clean audits, including an initial audit
• You have led major financial system transitions, implemented new systems to scale, and standardized ad-hoc processes
• You have an expert understanding of US GAAP, particularly technical revenue accounting standards like ASC 606
